Job Description

We are looking for a Construction Estimator to join University Mechanical Contractors, Inc (UMC) in Everett, WA. As a Construction Estimator, you will be responsible for bid and budget activities for various construction projects, ensuring accurate estimations and proposals for industrial piping, equipment, structural, civil works, HVAC/air systems, and mechanical systems. You will play a vital role in coordinating activities from plan receipt to bid submission.

Responsibilities

  • Organize and file plan/drawing sets efficiently.
  • Estimate labor, materials, and equipment costs using IG Tick Sheets.
  • Understand and apply Union Trade agreements and IG Trade Rate sheets.
  • Participate in bid activities, including obtaining quotes and pricing from subcontractors and vendors.
  • Review specifications and drawings for accurate estimations.
  • Prepare estimates from preliminary to final bid documents.
  • Collaborate with the team on proposal letters and project budgets.
  • Maintain up-to-date pricing and labor information in the estimating program.
  • Establish strong relationships with subcontractors and vendors.

Requirements

  • Technical knowledge of mechanical systems and construction methods.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously with attention to detail.
  • Experience in construction drawing interpretation and estimating systems.
  • Proficient in software applications like Excel and word processors.
  • College degree or equivalent field experience.
  • 5+ years of estimating experience in the industrial/mechanical sector.
  • Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record.
