Principal Application Engineer

Job Description

We are looking for a talented Principal Application Engineer to join Discover Financial Services. You will be part of a collaborative culture that values diversity, teamwork, and innovation. In this role, you will develop and maintain full stack solutions to meet business needs, working closely with business partners to understand requirements and advocate for best practices within the team.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain complex front-ends with a focus on user experience.
• Build and integrate backend systems while planning new systems development.
• Innovate on best practices, improve processes, and mentor team members.
• Create and maintain DevOps processes, application infrastructure, and utilize cloud services.
• Support live systems to ensure business continuity.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or related field.
• 8+ years of experience in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• In lieu of degree, 10+ years of experience in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with containerization, orchestration platforms, and cloud providers.
• Proficiency in key technologies including Java, Python, CI/CD, and more.
• Hands-on knowledge of React JS, Javascript, and CSS.
