Job Description

Steven Winter Associates (SWA) is seeking a Researcher to support the Building Equity Services initiative. The role involves conducting community-engaged research to address the needs of underrepresented groups in design, focusing on physical, visual, hearing, and cognitive disabilities, as well as diversity in race, religion, culture, gender, age, disability, neurodiversity, and LGBTQ+ identity. Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead Building Equity services, offering Inclusive Design guidance, conducting community-engaged research, analyzing qualitative and quantitative data, and publishing research results.
  • Present findings at conferences, establish research collaborations, seek business opportunities, and stay updated on relevant literature.

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree or equivalent, with 2-5 years of research experience.
  • Understanding of Universal Design, proficiency in data analysis, and previous work in equity, inclusion, or social justice.
  • Strong communication skills and knowledge of the built environment principles.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience in data analysis software, graphic design, Adobe Creative Suite, and Human Subjects Research training.

Personal Qualities

  • Inquisitive, detail-oriented, collaborative, organized, and able to work independently.

Travel Required: Minimal travel (10-15%) may be necessary.
