Job Description
We are looking for a skilled Tunnel Operator (Chemical, Biological, and Weapons) to join our team at Metropolitan Linen Service Corp in Haverhill, MA. As a Tunnel Operator, you will operate and maintain tunnel systems designed for the decontamination and neutralization of hazardous materials, ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulations.
Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain tunnel systems for handling Chemical, Biological, and Weapons (CBW) materials.
- Monitor material flow, handling, and disposal procedures within the tunnel system.
- Conduct inspections and maintenance tasks on tunnel equipment.
- Respond to operational issues or emergencies to maintain safety and minimize downtime.
- Adhere to company policies, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to coordinate daily operations.
- Maintain accurate records of equipment maintenance, procedures, and inventory.
- Participate in training sessions to enhance safety knowledge and emergency preparedness.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in hazardous materials handling preferred.
- Experience operating tunnel systems or similar equipment in a hazardous materials environment.
- Strong understanding of safety regulations for handling hazardous materials.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and make sound decisions under pressure.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Willingness to work evening shifts (Monday to Friday, 4:00 PM to 1:30 AM).
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 pounds).
- Comfortable working in confined spaces and wearing personal protective equipment.
- Willingness to undergo medical screenings and vaccinations for hazardous materials handling.
